Tag Archives: Crazy Contact Lenses

Sometimes you just want to stand out from the crowd and violet contact lenses are a fabulous way to do just that. Violet is a great colour choice because no one has naturally violet eyes. So by wearing violet contacts you instant create an attention-grabbing look. That said, you can find some surprisingly natural-looking violet contact lenses, so you can create anything from a subtle hint of violet to bright neon colour!

Natural-Look Violet Contact Lenses

Although violet is not a naturally occurring eye colour, there are many lenses that use violet in a natural-looking way. They do this by mimicking the patterns and shading found in real eye colours like blue. The results can be stunning and give you beautiful eyes that really stand out. These are three of my favourite natural-look violet contact lenses. They all work with your natural eye colour to produce stunning eyes.

Fantasy Violet Contact Lenses

At the other end of the scale are these amazing fantasy contact lenses. These lenses are perfect for costumes and Halloween. There are endless designs to choose from but these are some of our best-selling violet contacts. The light violet colour is very arresting because it is lighter than most natural eye colours. These lenses really make a statement and will get you noticed anywhere!

We may have to wait a few more months until the release of Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 but our Twilight contact lens sets make it easy to recreate the Twilight look. There are two main types of Twilight lenses, based on the different eye colours that vampires have in the Twilight Saga. In both the movie and novels the ‘good’ vampires have golden eyes, while the ‘bad’ vampires have blood red eyes. For the most arresting eyes I recommend these two Twilight contact lens sets. These lenses have beautiful realistic shading and really stand out. The black detailing also helps to define your eyes and make them very noticeable. Both sets include a lens case, solution and tweezers – everything you need to clean and care for your Twilight lenses.

Bryan Singer’s X Men trilogy was a huge success and I am really looking forward to the latest X Men reboot – X Men: First Class, which comes out on June 3rd. The new X Men movie is set in the 1960s and tells the story of how Charles Xavier (Professor X) and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) brought the X Men together. So far the trailers look very promising – full of sixties styling, a fantastic cast and great effects. Marvel have also released special character trailers that show us the cool X Men costume contact lenses used to create the costumes. The costumes look more similar to the comics than they did in the previous trilogy, so expect the full on black and yellow jumpsuits!

X Men Costume Contact Lenses Beast

Beast is such a great character and it looks like X Men: First Class will really do him justice. Beast is Dr. Hank McCoy, who transforms into a blue-furred ‘beast’ with athletic powers but always retains his intellectual mind. Beast is played by Skins actor Nicholas Hoult and as you can see, they have really gone all out with the costume! In this shot it’s clear that Nicholas Hoult is wearing yellow contact lenses. This is a challenging costume to recreate but a pair of plain Yellow Contacts is a great place to start.

Katy Perry ET Contact Lenses

Pop star Katy Perry is known for her wild style but she has taken it one step further with her new music video E.T. The video is set for release on March 31st but Katy Perry has revealed her extra terrestrial new look with images on the Katy Perry Facebook page. As you can see she is wearing elaborate pink and white make up with purple lipstick, blue eyeliner and bright turquoise contact lenses. The whole song has an alien abduction theme and from the image, it looks like Katy will be transformed into an alien in the video. The make up is extreme but it is the Katy Perry E.T. contact lenses that really take this look to the next level. They make her look really strange and alien and the colour is just fantastic. In the other images on Katy Perry’s Facebook you can see that she has a bizarre plaited hairstyle with cornrow plaits that fan out like branches of coral or sea anemone. No one knows what her outfit will be like but hopefully it will be as wild and colourful as the make up – and Katy Perry rarely disappoints on the extreme fashion front.

Until now UV contact lenses have only been available in plain colours but the new i-Glow range of lenses have a great choice of patterns in UV colours that really glow. Body Jewellery Shop is the first online store to sell these lenses and I love the way the different designs look under UV light. i-Glow UV contact lenses are one of the few ranges of contact lenses manufactured in the UK and they are made under strict EU safeguards to ensure complete quality and safety. They are also 1 year contact lenses, so they are great value for money.

i-Glow UV Contact Lens Designs

There are twenty-three different i-Glow contact lenses including popular crazy lens designs like cat eye contact lenses, checkerboard, biohazard symbols and even a Twilight themed contact lens. Below are three of my favourites but if you’re a fan of clubbing style I really recommend checking out the whole range.

St Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and what better way is there to get in the mood than with a pair of green contact lenses? Everyone wears green and Irish flags but a pair of green contact lenses will definitely make you stand out, especially if you are attending a big event like a St Paddy’s Day parade or party. Here at BJS we have a great choice of green contacts including realistic colour contact lenses, novelty St Patrick’s Day designs and special effects like UV colour lenses. As with any contact lenses, it is important to store these lenses in a contact lens case and clean them with contact lens solution. You can wear them for up to eight hours, so if you are going to be out longer than that I recommend taking a case and solution with you. Then you can remove your lenses after 8 hours or if they become dry before then.

Calling all fans of gothic fashion, we have two brand new ranges of gothic contact lenses: Alchemy and UL13. Alchemy Gothic are famous for their gothic jewellery and now they have designed a great range of gothic contact lenses as well. Our new gothic lenses are all manufactured in the UK to ensure superior quality. They are yearly lenses, so you can wear them as many times as you like within one year of opening them. Personally I think we have a great choice of designs, from skulls and vampire lenses to retro designs and fantastic new colours.

Alchemy Gothic Contact Lenses

The main Alchemy range of contact lenses is dedicated to classic gothic motifs like skulls, crosses and dragons. It also features some surprisingly designs such as a beautiful raven contact lens inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s Nevermore. All the designs would be perfect for Halloween but the three shown below are my picks for maximum impact with your Halloween costume. I particularly love the Vampire Moon lenses and the way the bloody surface of the moon stands out.

Are Mesh Contact Lenses Safe?

The short answer is yes; mesh contact lenses are safe to wear. Like all coloured contact lenses they only pose a risk if you do not use them correctly. Contact lenses must be kept clean and only used for their life span, which in this case is one year. They must be stored in a clean contact lens case, cleaned with contact lens solution and only handled with clean hands. It is also important not to share your lenses with other people. Mesh contact lenses allow you to see but they are not suitable for driving. They are absolutely fine and safe for short term wear such as going to a party, on a night out or a Halloween costume.

Valentines Day is just around the corner and here at BJS we love any excuse to celebrate. Valentines contact lenses are a great way to get into the spirit of Valentines Day and they are sure to get you noticed. If you want to create an extra special look for Valentines Day, I recommend taking a look at our Natural Colour Contact Lenses. They will make your eyes look extra intense and beautiful, perfect for catching your sweetheart’s attention. Pink and red contact lenses are ideal for Valentines Day themed outfits, especially if you are attending a special event like a Valentines club night or an alternative event like the Reclaim Love march in central London.

Heart Valentines Day Contact Lenses

Heart Contact Lenses

Love hearts are the symbol of Valentines Day and you can’t beat a pair of heart contact lenses. We have a great choice of heart contact lenses including the Funky Eyes lenses pictured here. When you have a choice of different brands for the same contact lens design, I recommend spending as much as you are willing to – you really get what you pay for with contact lenses.
