What are Dermal Anchors?

Dermal Anchor Micro Dermal

Dermal anchors are very small implants, also known as micro dermals. In many ways, dermal anchors can be said to be a cross between a piercing and a traditional implant. To the left is a standard dermal anchor. As you can see it has a long foot with a round bead on top. The foot is placed under the skin and only the bead is visible on the skin surface. The bead is threaded and can be unscrewed and replaced with other accessories. Dermal anchors are quite delicate and need a lot of care to heal well. Even after healing they remain delicate, hence our recommendation that you have a professional piercer do any jewellery changes.

We all know that dermal anchors can be extremely fiddly especially when you are trying to insert them. Here at bodyjewelleryshop.com we are always looking for the quickest and safest way to get the best out of your piercings. Thus we have introduced a new range of dermal anchor tools specifically designed to help insert, change and accessorize your dermal anchor piercing. They take the stress and fiddliness out of these funky little piercings, leaving you with a simply awesome style.

Dermal Anchor Insertion Tapers

These helpful tools are a must have for any professional piercer as they allow you to easily insert dermal anchors with minimal pain. They eliminate the risk of dropping the anchor on the floor and they are much more precise and hygienic than using your fingers. Each of the tapers below feature a 1.2mm threaded end, which neatly screws into any 1.2mm dermal anchor. Once you have screwed the anchor into place you are ready to insert it into the piercing. With each being made form surgical steel they are easy to clean, use and store. They work perfectly when accompanied by the dermal anchor forceps we have talked about below.

Dermal Anchor Forceps

Dermal anchor forceps make it so much easier to change dermal anchor attachments and they are convenient and hygienic. Changing dermal anchor jewellery is a delicate process and using forceps like the thin tip dermal anchor forceps below make it much easier to grip the dermal anchor and keep it firmly in place. They grip the stem while you change the attachment and stop the anchor moving and twisting therefore making it much more comfortable. The dermal anchor forceps are slightly thicker at the end making them perfect for gripping a dermal anchor attachment or ball. Again they make changing any dermal anchor accessory a more comfortable, less irritable and less fiddly process. Remember to consult your piercer if you are not confident about doing it yourself after all they are the experts.
